Sales-speak decoder

Factory direct

A claim that you're buying straight from the maker with no middleman. Sometimes literally true; often a framing used to justify an in-home-sales premium.

What it means for you

Doesn't automatically mean cheaper. The commissioned rep, the advertising, and the in-home appointment are the middle — just in-house. Compare the installed price per window against a local installer before you accept “direct” as “best value.”

Where you'll see it

The opening of most in-home presentations, usually beside a large “MSRP → today's price” discount.

Don't be fooled

“Factory direct” describes the sales model, not a guaranteed price advantage.
