Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Windows Resource (“Windows Resource,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates windowsresource.net (the “Site”), an educational resource about residential replacement windows, doors, siding, and sunrooms — with expert guides, a free consult service, and a North Carolina contractor directory that is currently in development. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Site or submitting a request through it, you agree to this policy.

The short version. If you ask for a consult or a quote, we share the details you give us with the window professional(s) who will handle your request — today that is the working window expert behind this site and, where relevant to your project, an installer or company he works with. Because compensation can be involved in that referral, the sharing may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some laws. Our upcoming contractor directory will be built from public government records and information contractors choose to make public. We use analytics, and we post our own marketing content to Pinterest. Details below.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide. When you request a consult or quote, submit a contact or lead form, create an account, or (once the directory opens) sign up as a listed professional or advertiser, we collect what you enter. For homeowner requests this can include your name, email address, phone number, city or ZIP, service or project type, project details and timeline, and whether you opted in to updates.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we collect standard technical data — including your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring source, and interactions — through cookies and our analytics tooling.

Payment information. If we offer paid placements or advertising in the future, card details will be entered directly with our payment processor (such as Stripe) and processed by them. We do not see or store full card numbers.

2. How we share consult and quote requests (including “sale”/“sharing”)

This is the most important thing to understand. When you request a consult or quote through the Site, we share the information you provide with the window professional(s) who will handle it — the working window expert behind this site and, where relevant to your project and area, an installer or company he works with, so they can contact you about your project.

Because compensation can be involved in those referrals, this sharing may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). By submitting a request, you direct and authorize us to share your information for this purpose. We don’t blast your request to a pile of contractors — it goes to the professional(s) handling it.

Your choice: if you don’t want your information shared, don’t submit a request — the guides are free to read either way — or email hello@windowsresource.net to opt out or ask us to delete a request you already sent. Professionals who receive your information are responsible for their own privacy practices.

3. How we use information

  • Deliver your consult or quote request to the professional(s) handling it.
  • Respond to your inquiries and operate the consult and contact tools.
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and its features.
  • Measure traffic and understand how the Site is used.
  • Send transactional messages (e.g., a request confirmation) and, where you opted in, occasional updates.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security or technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. The contractor directory — how listings will be sourced

Our North Carolina directory of window, door, siding, and sunroom professionals is currently in development. When it launches, listings and verification signals will come from two sources only:

  • Public records and public business information — such as the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, county permit databases, the North Carolina Secretary of State, and publicly listed business contact details.
  • Information a professional chooses to provide or make public — for example, details submitted when claiming or upgrading a listing.

Verification signals will link back to the public record they came from so anyone can confirm them at the source. We will not publish a professional’s private, internal, or confidential information. Professionals who want to correct a listing or request removal of anything that is not part of the public record can email hello@windowsresource.net.

5. Other ways we share information

Apart from the request sharing described in Section 2, we share information only:

  • With service providers who run the Site on our behalf (Section 6), under terms that limit their use of the information to providing those services.
  • For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of users, professionals, and the public.
  • In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Outside of Section 2, we do not sell your personal information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

6. Service providers we use

We rely on these third-party processors, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
  • Convex — application database and backend.
  • Clerk — account authentication.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Google Analytics — website analytics (when enabled).
  • Pinterest — social publishing of our own marketing content (Section 8).
  • Stripe — payment processing, if and when paid placements launch.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to operate the Site (for example, to keep you signed in) and analytics cookies to understand usage. Analytics processing includes technical and usage data such as IP address and approximate geolocation, handled on our behalf. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; some features may not work without them.

8. Pinterest and social media

We maintain a presence on Pinterest and use the Pinterest API to publish our own infographics and marketing content to our own boards, and to read information about those boards and pins. Our use of Pinterest data complies with the Pinterest Developer Guidelines, the Pinterest Developer Terms, and Pinterest’s own Privacy Policy.

This integration is used solely to publish and manage our own content. We do not collect, store, or process the personal information of Pinterest users through it, we do not use Pinterest data for advertising profiling, and we do not sell it. Access tokens are stored securely and used only to operate our own account. If you click through from a pin to our Site, the “Information collected automatically” section above applies.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here — to deliver and follow up on your request, operate your account, meet legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes — and then delete or anonymize it.

10. Your choices and rights

You may request to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may opt out of non-essential communications at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information (see Section 2) under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA, or rights under the GDPR.

To exercise any of these, email hello@windowsresource.net. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, including secure storage of credentials and access tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Third-party links

The Site links to third-party websites, including public government records, manufacturers, and professionals’ sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; review their policies separately.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above; material changes will be reflected on this page.

15. Contact us
