Wood frame

A traditional solid-wood frame — an excellent natural insulator with unmatched historic looks, but the highest-maintenance material.

What it means for you

Beautiful and warm, and the right call for a historic or high-design interior — but in NC's heat and humidity bare wood needs resealing or repainting every few years or it warps, swells, and rots. Many buyers choose clad-wood to keep the look without the weather-side upkeep.

Where you'll see it

Historic and premium quotes; often steered toward clad-wood for the exterior.
