Frame (window)
The fixed outer perimeter anchored to the wall that holds the sash. Frame = stationary; sash = moving.
What it means for you
The frame-vs-sash split decides your repair path: a bad seal or balance is often a sash or glass fix, but a rotted or racked frame is what pushes a job to full-frame replacement.
Where you'll see it
Everywhere on a quote — “full-frame” vs “insert” is entirely about whether the old frame stays.
