Full-frame vs insert
Two ways to replace a window. An insert (pocket) drops a new unit into your sound existing frame. A full-frame tear-out goes back to the rough opening and rebuilds it.
What it means for you
The most common false comparison between two quotes. Full-frame typically adds 20–30% and is the right call when the old frame is rotted or you want new flashing; an insert is fine when the frame is solid.
Where you'll see it
Sometimes stated on the quote; often not. Ask which one each bid assumes before you compare totals.
