Cost lever Sold under many names
Slab (door)
The door panel by itself — just the swinging part, no frame, hinges, or hardware.
What it means for you
Buying a slab means reusing your existing frame and jamb — cheaper, but only if that frame is square and sound and the new slab is machined to match your hinges and lockset. If anything's off, a prehung unit is the surer buy.
Where you'll see it
A “slab only” vs “prehung” choice on a door quote.
Also sold as: door blank
