Snow load
The weight of accumulated snow a roof must be engineered to carry, set by local code for the area.
What it means for you
It matters even in mostly mild NC — the mountains carry real snow-load requirements, and a sunroom roof (especially a low-slope studio roof) has to be sized for it. It's a legitimate engineering-and-permit item, and part of why a to-code room can need stamped plans.
