Rail (sash)
The horizontal top and bottom members of a sash. The bottom rail is the one you push; the “meeting rail” is where two sashes overlap.
What it means for you
Vocabulary that keeps a pitch honest — when someone mentions the “lift rail” or a “reinforced meeting rail,” you'll know they mean parts of the sash, not upgrades to the glass.
