Garden window

A small glass box that projects outward with a glass top and interior shelves — a mini-greenhouse, usually over the sink.

What it means for you

A bright spot for herbs and plants, with side panes that open for air. Because it's a projecting box with a slanted glass roof, seal and flashing quality matter more than on a flat window — a cheap one can leak or fog.

Where you'll see it

Over a kitchen sink; a specialty add priced above a standard unit.
