“AS-truh-gul”
The vertical strip where a pair of doors (double or French) meet — the piece one door latches into that seals the gap between them.
What it means for you
The weak point of any double door for both weather and security. A solid astragal with a good multi-point catch is what keeps a French or double door from rattling, leaking air, or being pried at the seam.
